Consecrated Life 2015

Pope Francis has invited the whole church to celebrate a Year of Consecrated Life from the First Sunday of Advent 2014 to the Feast of the Presentation, 2 February 2016. In his letter for the Year of Consecrated Life, Pope Francis says that the aim is to look to the past with gratitude, to live the present with passion and to embrace the future with hope. Father Donald Senior CP, of Holy Cross Province, presents the Pope’s letter in a short video in which he also reflects on the importance of the Year of Consecrated Life.

Fr Joachim Rego, the Superior General of the Passionists, has issued a Letter on the Occasion of the Year of Consecrated Life.‘The Year of Consecrated Life’, he says, ‘invites us to focus and take stock of the life to which God has called us and to which we have given our “fiat”.’

Fr Don Webber, Provincial of Holy Cross Province in the United States has written an introduction to the Year of Consecrated Life in which he says,’During this special Year of Consecrated Life, I invite you to pray for all those who have made commitments in the consecrated life. Be sure to thank them for their dedication and service. May they continue to be inspired by Holy Spirit and respond generously to their vocation as religious to serve you and the Church today.’

During the Year for Consecrated Life, there is a celebration of Evening Prayer  at 6.00 pm  every Thursday in the Carmelite Church, Clarendon Street, Dublin. These sessions began on the first Thursday of Advent, and are being led by representatives of a different congregation each Thursday. The event will include a brief description of the life and charism of the order or congregation concerned.
